Adding interest to the passage between the kitchen and dining room, this fine concha is finished off with a delicate spray of leaves molded from the same stucco.

In the distinguished home of the Meisen-heimers’ in Alamos, Arquitecto René Escobosa designed this beautifully proportioned shell as a headrest in the master bedroom. The lime green cushions over a white woolen bedspread make it both cool and inviting.

Some of the most interesting original conchas are to be found in the XVIII century home of the Saldivars’. Great care was taken to preserve their authenticity when the house was being restored; the early painted decorations around the windows were very lightly retouched. Between the two windows stands a rather fierce wooden Santiago in an unusual nicho de concha, which has been cut to accommodate his horse’s tail.
